Black Travel Groups

Black travel groups, and what they offer in 2026.

A clear, current guide to the best Black travel communities and group-trip operators — and where small, specifically Black-and-gay voyages fit alongside them.

The landscape, in plain language

Most Black travel groups today are large, mixed-gender communities organised around destinations or vibe. They're remarkable. They're also not always built for Black gay men. Both can be true.

The Large Communities

Black & Abroad, Nomadness, Travel Divas, The Black Travel Club.

Long-running communities with tens of thousands of members each. Black & Abroad runs curated group trips at scale; Travel Divas is women-led with a wide annual calendar; Nomadness Travel Tribe organises mostly self-directed meetups; The Black Travel Club runs an active Instagram-led community. All four are worth following. None are built specifically for gay men.

The Group-Trip Operators

Luxe Tribes, Jet Black, Black Travelers International.

Smaller operators offering curated 8–20 person trips for Black travellers, often anchored to a single destination per departure. Strong on culture, food, and group cohesion. Most are mixed-gender and mixed-orientation; ask in advance about the typical guest mix.

Where Onyx Sits

Twelve Black gay men. One week. Specifically composed.

OnyxVoyage is the small, specifically-for-us version: a private House. Twelve members per voyage, two voyages a year (one urban, one wild), every itinerary vetted for how Black gay men are actually received on the ground. Past chapters: Cartagena, the Atlas Mountains, an island in the Cyclades.

Choosing Between Them

A short, honest framework.

Want the energy of a big mixed-gender Black community? Black & Abroad or Travel Divas. Want a curated 15-person trip with strong cultural programming? Luxe Tribes or Jet Black. Want a small, considered room of Black gay men with a safety-first itinerary and a 24-hour concierge? That's what we're for. None of these choices excludes the others — most of our members travel with two or three of these communities a year.
